So yeah, I have a hundred and ten things up my sleeve. I’m one of those people who starts a project, gets halfway done, and then finds something else to work on. Anyway, I’m looking for advice for my next major Caffeinated Content project.
Will hold as many blogs as you want, and post to them all whenever you want it to in the same way that the Caffeinated Content plugin currently works. It’ll work with wordpress.com hosted blogs and WordPress mu blogs out there as well as your pre-created blogs. Unfortunately, it probably won’t be able to do comments on posts due to the way WordPress’ xmlrpc works.
Option 1: Windows .NET-based software.
Pros: Windows-based. Fast. You control the action. No limitations.
Cons: Windows-based. Requires .NET.
Option 2: Kansieo.com-hosted software.
Pros: Server-caused bugs will virtually be eliminated as it will only be running on my server. Windows .NET-based bugs will also be eliminated for the same reason.
Cons: Slower. API-usage might kill this idea before it’s out of the water, unless I can figure out a nice method of proxy gathering…
Currently, I’m leaning toward a kansieo.com-hosted setup. It just seems to make more sense and it won’t require anything other than a browser to use.
Any opinions?

I think the hosted is a great idea. What you might do is code up the master server to do the fetching and do the heavy lifting. Then the plugin that goes on their sites can fetch the XML feed (authenticated of course) and make postings off of that.
The upside to going with a strategy like this, is that yahoo or your other feed’s would not know what sites are using their content.
The other thing it most likely needs is a cloaking option for trackbacks.
The master server can go out and fetch trackbacks using the title minus stopwords. For instance if the title was “Funny man doing the ipod dance” it would strip it out to “Funny man ipod dance”. Once it has the trackbacks, auto ping them with the cloaking option on, so that EVERY user sees the trackbacks, but spiders and bots do not see the trackbacks. Thus you get search engine benifit, from being 1 sided links, and no one else is the wiser.
Bam! Automated link building engine.
Hi Jason, you’re script is one of my favorites and I emailed you before on this but wanted to bring it up again if you’re making any changes or enhancements to the plugin. The date of comments to posts pulled from Yahoo answers needs to be staggered to where the reply date is not in the future. Right now published posts could have a replies with dates into the following month.
In the interim is there a way to remove the reply date from the code? I was going to poke around the files but if you knew where that code was off the top of your head, I think not having a date vs. a future reply date might be better.
