Texans don't see too far beyond their own horizon. Texas started out as an independent republic and in some ways never lost that mind set. Anything imposed on them from "The Feds" is seem as undesirable meddling in their affairs. Consider this quote from John Steinbeck: "Texas is a state of mind. Texas is an obsession. We had to think of a disaster recovery solution quickly. We got rid of our wordpress site and began hosting it on a cloud server. We have eliminated all of the problems.
